Two Long Time Canyon Fishermen
David O'Halloran and Don Oellerich fished the Canyons for many year. Don (purple shirt in right picture) passed away this year after a battle with cancer. His passion to fish the Canyons was great and a pleasure to crew with. We ask that you support Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in honor of Don. In the picture is his crew of the "Second Chance" after winning one of the Star Island tourneys. This would be the first of many trips Rich Lucas would fish with his friend Don Oellerich.
David O'Halloran left us this past Memorial Day while spending time on what he loved most - being on his boat with his family! Dave was the founder of the Montauk Canyon Challenge and we all were saddened by his passing. It was his vision for all of us to have a tournament in Montauk that we could call our own. We will honor Dave's commitment and desire to elevate the MCC to one of the best tournaments in the Northeast! We ask that you help support Dave's family in their time of need. Support the MCC and Dave's legacy!

2017 Montauk Canyon Challenge Honors David O'Halloran & Don Oellerich
Maggie Schmidt was a healthy, vibrant and beautiful 16 year old girl when she was suddenly diagnosed in October 2016 with a very rare and aggressive cancer - Malignant Rhabdoid Tumors.
Maggie, her family, her Oncologist and a team of Doctors and Nurses at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC worked together to battle the cancer with various chemotherapy treatments and surgeries but unfortunately, Maggie lost her battle on June 1, 2017. Cancer robbed her of a full life. This was a difficult and painful journey for such a young person, yet Maggie faced her situation with courage and dignity. Maggie asked us before she died to help other children and young adults dealing with this devastating disease. This has now become Maggie's Mission.
