Montauk Canyon Challenge
The 2026 Montauk Canyon Challenge (MCC) is scheduled to take place from July 10 to July 18, 2026. Founded in 2011 by Dave O'Halloran, the MCC is a Captain's Choice Tournament designed by sport fishing captains and crew to reestablish Montauk as the premier offshore fishing destination in the Northeast. The tournament's mission is to promote camaraderie and sportsmanship both at the dock and 100 miles offshore. It was Dave's dedication and vision that laid the foundation for the future of the MCC. It is only fitting that the overall points leader is named the David O'Halloran Grand Champion.
Under the leadership of Chris Squeri, Rich Lucas, and Kristen Kopp, the MCC has experienced significant growth, now attracting nearly 80 boats and offering record-breaking prize money. The event is renowned for its attention to detail, including high-quality captain's buckets, exclusive tournament apparel, and a prestigious awards dinner held at Gosman's Dock.

Early registration is currently open, with discounted entry fees available until May 1, 2026. Participants can register through the official MCC app or the tournament's website. The registration package includes access to the Captain's Meeting, the Awards Dinner, exclusive tournament merchandise, and eligibility for trophies and substantial prize money. Additionally, various Calcutta options allow participants to compete in specialized categories, including tuna, mahi-mahi, wahoo, and billfish.
The MCC continues to innovate and enhance the tournament experience each year, solidifying its reputation as the premier offshore fishing event in the Northeast. For real-time updates, live scoring, and more, participants and enthusiasts are encouraged to download the official MCC app.
